How to Start Tales of Seikyu

This Tales of Seikyu beginner guide is a first-week walkthrough — not a spoiler-heavy story script.

You arrive on Seikyu as a kitsune farmer restoring an ancestral home with your sibling Kon. The 1.0 release completes the main story, so week one should balance farm income, Fox Ruins exploration, and villager introductions.

For the scannable 15-tip checklist (controls, trash loot, fishing clock, form upgrades), use our dedicated tips page instead of duplicating it here.

Day 1 — Unlimited Time Prep Route

Your first calendar day in Tales of Seikyu never forces bedtime — treat it as free setup.

Morning: Dock intro with Seabert, meet Mayor Yui, tour town shops, and follow the shrine tutorial until Boar Form unlocks. Smash stumps and rocks on the farm in Boar Form — no separate axe or pickaxe exists.

Afternoon: Loot every garbage can in town (at least one item per bin per day). Forage mushrooms and berries along forest paths. Route behind the farmhouse leads to the bamboo forest — no river parkour needed.

Evening: Clear remaining farm debris, craft a workbench when wood allows, and ship turnips or forage in the bin. Stay up as long as you want — the clock does not tick until day two.

  • Boar ground slam tills soil and breaks trees or rocks — dash works but is slower.
  • Combat can still kill you — bring no ego into night exploration until you cook food.
  • Day 1 tips (trash, roll rebind) →

Days 2–4 — Farming, Musashi & Quest Board

Once the clock starts, each day runs roughly thirty to forty minutes.

Day 2: Musashi (often as a black cat) starts Farming the Wild Way — receive watering can and starter seeds. Till in Boar Form (up to four seeds per tile), water once, and check the quest board in town.

Quest board payouts fund early backpack rows and furnace recipes. One tutorial quest unlocks the fishing rod — finish it before long fishing sessions because time does not pause during the minigame.

Day 3–4: Craft furnace and stove when wood and ore allow. Rain waters crops for free. Use rainy farm downtime for Fox Ruins rooms or town gift runs.

  • Apply basic fertilizer (1 resin per craft, no bench needed) to every crop tile — growth time drops sharply.
  • Favor regrow crops (strawberries, soybeans) once you can afford them — replanting every harvest burns stamina.
  • Fertilizer & crop priority →

Farm Basics — Boar Tilling, Fertilizer & Field Expansion

Farming in Tales of Seikyu is yokai-driven — Boar replaces hoe and scythe for supported crops.

Each Sasaki field expansion adds one 6×3 plot (eighteen crops). First extra field costs 2,000 gold. Trees on expansion terraces do not regrow — ideal future coop placement.

Two crop fields feel manageable for week one; more than that often means spending whole days chopping resin for fertilizer. Save gold before season change — new seeds are required each season.

Sap from cleared trees crafts basic fertilizer anywhere from inventory. Rei Kyouho's early-game loop: fertilize daily, ship bin nightly, buy one backpack row before luxury seeds.

Inventory & Home Storage

Cooked meals do not stack — backpack pressure hits before week one ends.

Musashi sells Backpack Expansion for 200 gold (up to nineteen purchases, four slots each). Befriend Musashi through fishing or gifts to unlock shop dialogue faster in some playthroughs.

Craft a Crafting Table (8 wood), convert logs to planks, then build an Exquisite Wooden Chest (5 planks). Rename chests and sort shrine forage, ore, and gift tests into separate boxes.

Shrine Bundles & Inari Temple Offerings

Do not sell every foraged item on day one — shrines and ruins ask for seasonal materials.

Open the bundle screen in your menu to track shrine progress without running back and forth. Inari Temple altars accept seasonal forage and crops; rewards are outfit pieces, not power weapons.

Store offering materials in a dedicated chest as you play. Fox Ruins rooms occasionally demand the same forage at altars — panic farming is slower than collecting passively.

Town fox shrines also register as teleport points on every map layer — unlock each one you pass.

Fox Ruins — Week One Progression

Northwest of town; Yohji and the magical tree over the first fox shrine introduce the dungeon.

Days 4–7: Explore surface rooms for iron ore, murals, and slime gates. Cook Char-Grilled Kebabs (+30 HP, +45 energy) or Grilled Fish before boss attempts.

Anji — first tanuki boss — drops the Slime transformation scroll. Slime Form waters the entire farm by absorbing river water and enables underwater ruin passages.

After forge grand opening, craft or buy the Massive Ore Crushing Pickaxe. Jump attacks save stamina and can hook ledges to reach early loot like the Decayed Greatsword.

Town Systems — Map, Gifts & Night Safety

Seikyu's map lists NPCs (even unmet strangers), building hours, and teleport layers.

One gift per villager per day — check the affinity tab for likes, loves, and hates. White crystals are universal loved gifts but cannot be bought — save them for priority romance targets.

Pearl Lake rewards pearls for gifting when explored as Slime Form. Night routes spawn aggressive yokai — stay stocked on food or teleport home before 2:00 a.m. warnings.

Passing out at 3:00 a.m. ends the day without gold loss; HP zero in combat offers checkpoint reload.
